Nowadays, convenience foods have gained such popularity all over the world that they are expected to dominate the entire food industry, and even take the place of conventional foods and their cooking styles. However, I do not concur completely with this notion.



On the one hand, it is undeniable that there is a growing trend towards the consumption of convenience foodstuff by virtue of convenience and tempting flavor. To begin with, this type of foods require little or no extra preparation, which saves time as well, so they are the best choice for people who are occupied with routine work. Another plus for prepackaged foods is their tempting looks and palatable flavor which surely gain consumers' preference.



On the other hand, I would argue that ready-made dishes will not prevail over traditional foods and ways of preparation. First and foremost, there is a problem concerning health. Frequent consumption of convenience foodstuff can lead to such diseases as obesity, diabetes, etc., which is because of the high fat, sugar, food preservatives and food additives that are present in some processed foods. Furthermore, their packaging poses potential threats to the environment, due to the increased usage of plastics that contributes to more waste in landfills. Additionally, cost per serving may be much higher than most homemade meals.



To conclude, although ready-made foods have earned increasing prevalence in the food industry, they are not likely to be consumed in lieu of original dishes. In other words, traditional meals and their cooking methods will still be of great importance in the future.
