It is reported that annual national celebrations of some countries cost their governments a massive amount of money. However, my point of view, which is protected by some reasons as evidenced in this following essay, insistently disagrees with the aforementioned statement.

To begin with, spending a proportion of the authorities’ budget on holding important celebrations is completely justifiable. The initial advantage is that such events make an enormous contribution to preserve cultural traditions of a nation. Not only the solemn rituals and activities included in these festivals remind our next generations to be grateful but they also promote the valuable heritages of one territorial area to others. This, in turn brings in more money to the domestic economy through people’s travel, shopping and sometimes even through donations.

Secondly, some celebrations take place nationwide in a grand manner such as Independence Day, which are considered as crucial occasions for both individuals and society. The government has been setting up a general platform for these kinds of festivals, which facilitates its citizens to reward themselves and gather around their families and friends after working days. For instance, in Vietnam, the Hung Kings Anniversary taking place per year always witnesses a huge amount of visitors flocking to Phu Tho province with a view to participate in the festive rituals and recreational activities as well.

To conclude, there are only a few national festivals in a year, the amount of financial funds spent on these occasions is unlikely to be too much. Contrarily, it is apparent that such events bring numerous benefits to a country’s economic development and also create potential opportunities for humans to commemorate their ancestors or spend time with friends.
